Ugh. Need I say more?
This kind of thing probably shouldn’t be too surprising anymore from a White House but peddles lies, distortions and propaganda on a regular basis. I know his crowd size isn’t the most important thing in the world (besides, isn’t it the motion of the ocean?) but it’s more the medium than the act.
There’s just something about falsifying one’s words (lying) that doesn’t alarm me quite as much as falsifying a physical or digital record. Anytime text, audio, video, or images are doctored – it really crosses a line for me.
We all know that anyone’s statements are just that — they’re statements. No matter how much an expert or authority on the subject, we always know there’s some subjectivity there. Digital and physical media, though, are supposed to be objective representations of the news they report. We aren’t trained in the same way to “distrust our own eyes and ears.” We take it as fact.
That’s why this is such a devious way to manipulate us.
